Udine Castle, accessible via the Bollani Arch designed by Palladio, stands on a moraine hill and has housed the Civic Museums of History and Art since 1906. Among its main attractions are the Parliament Hall with frescoes and coffered ceiling, and the Church of Santa Maria di Castello with frescoes and a bell tower topped by the Angel wind chime. Built to replace the building destroyed in 1511, the castle has a history linked to gastalds, patriarchs and legends about Attila’s Huns.
