One hundred years ago Italy entered the war against the Austro-Hungarian Empire to complete the path of national unification. Our region was the scene of the bloodiest and bloodiest clashes where every meter of conquered ground swallowed thousands of lives. Thousands of young men, running, threw themselves toward Glory often meeting only Death. Due to its specific geographical location, Friuli Venezia Giulia has always been a territory with a military vocation. Most of the aristocratic residences that now take the form of villas were first created for defensive purposes or to control the territory. This edition of the Festival features places with a very broad chronological spectrum, from the Abbey (also informing a castle) of Sesto al Reghena founded in the 8th century AD to Castelvecchio on the Karst heavily involved in the fighting of the Great War. An architectural journey through the history of this Region so small but with countless identities. This variety could not fail to be matched by a choice of program that knew how to translate it into music, emphasizing how much these mansions can still tell us about their glorious past.
