Antonio Salieri’s name has returned among those of the best-known composers of his era since Milos Forman’s film Amadeus put him back in the spotlight, in the rivalry the film tells against the genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Actually, the story does not offer us much certainty about the real relationship between the two, however, moving from the musical notes to the gluttonous ones, we know that they both appreciated the pleasures of the table, and in particular sweets. So why not compare them, on pages from some of their most famous scores, along with works by their other contemporaries, adding the pleasantness of a “breakfast” in music? This is the magic of the Piccolo Opera Festival, where every appointment has the flavor of surprise….
