There can be no more suitable theme than this for anyone who dares to organize an art festival at this time. It then happened to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the closing of the first psychiatric hospital (San Giovanni in Trieste) by Franco Basaglia.
A revolutionary act that ended the segregation of the “mentally ill.” Prospecting its reintegration into the society of “normals.” Right now, and absurdly precisely in a country like Italy, the artist’s relationship with society seems to be heading towards an opposite path. More and more marginalized, less and less considered, almost to the point of assuming its uselessness, where not harmfulness.
Art as something destined for a small circle of pedantic connoisseurs to be locked up in their museums and theaters. Instead, the Small Festival wants to show that our society needs art and artists more than ever; to not lose its ability to dream of a better future, to have someone to point out new ways, and to restore oxygen to the desire to create and improve. Cultural events need original ideas and projects, not cold marketing operations. We claim our identity and our project that
We carry on stubbornly and proudly. Our small art workshop does not give way to the show business outlet.
