“Trough this beautiful meadow run many merry rivers, that with a short journey
offer their tribute to the sea, and give a lot of comfort and utiliy.
There are then under the Alps some small mountains full of fruit and extremely delicious
and for many beautiful little castles on top of them very pleasent and delicious to passengers
as well as useful and tasteful for the inhabitants.

The festival in 2009 was held in six towns of the centre of Friuli (Cassacco, Magnano in Riviera, Martignacco, Reana da Rojale and Remanzacco Tricesimo) and also in the cities of Udine and Gemona del Friuli thus creating a cultural link that expands from the vast plains to the Prealpi Giulie. A territory characterized by the abundance of natural water resources (The creeks Torre, Cormor and Malina) and also artificial resources such as “Rogge” (canals) that gave Rojale its name.

This zone which was inhabited since the prehistoric times was large Roman colony: Tricesimo was built in 60 A.C when Julius Caesar launched from Aquileia his invasion of Norico and stopped in this location “castrum”. The name Tricesimo is derived from “Tricesimum” and refers to the distance from Aquileia (Thirty Miles). We should not forget Road Julia Augusta, which led from Aquileia to Norico (Actual Austria), this land had a great strategic importance as can be noticed by the presence of numerous castles and fortresses (Castles of Cassacco, Castle Valentinis of Tricesimo, Castle Prampero in Magnano), Not to forget the numerous sites that reflects the importance of that zone historically.

This land is rooted with traditions, traditions of gastronomy , and it serves as a crossroad and gate of exchange of industries and commerce to Europe.
