The Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, performed by Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia conducted by Giuliano Medeossi, has triumphantly closed the 4th edition of the Piccolo Festival of the Friuli Venezia Giulia. Big success for the young soloists (Giulia Della Peruta, Chiara Brunello, Matteo Mezzaro e Goran Ruzzier) as well as for Matteo Andri at the piano and Cristiano Dell’Oste (Choir master) harmonium.
The Festival, for the fourth consecutive year under the artistic direction of Gabriele Ribis and dedicated to the theme of Diversity, has offered seventeen appointments (from 4 August to 11 September), between music, theater and cinema greeted by a unanimous public and critical acclaim. The attendance record in 2011 have slightly exceeded 2,800 units (1,300 in 2010)!
One can say that with this edition of the Piccolo Festival has rightly confirmed one of the most original and successful events in the region.
Almost all the concerts of the season had an excellent attendance, from La Giulietta (performed by Luciano Roman, Compagnia Arearea and the Strepiz) in Faedis (450), opera La cambiale di matrimonio attended in the four dates of Udine, Tricesimo, Trivignano Udinese and Maniago by 800, Concert Viva V.E.R.D.I.! with FVG Mitteleuropa Orchestra, Choir FVG and international soloists conducted by Giovanni Battista Varoli with 400 people able to reach Villa Italia in Torreano of Martignacco, until the final concert in Tarcento with a sold-out Dome.
Big acclaim also for American Musical & Opera concerts in Trieste and Maniago performed by young singers of College of Music of University of Colorado, the two cinema music concerts (in Martignacco and Pradamano) with Oneiron Ensemble, concert Fiati all’Opera in Reana del Rojale with Federico Scridel and Quintett of Filarmonica del FVG, the great piano of Matteo Andri in Buon Compleanno Liszt! in Remanzacco and successfull concert Mahlerfolkmusik in Canussio of Varmo (in collaboration with PIC Medio Friuli of Codroipo) with great conductiong and playing by Maurizio Agostini leading the Ensemble of Filarmonica FVG. Many people attended the movie in Campeglio of Faedis and the originale and touching show by Francesco Accomando about Ciceri in Tricesimo.
The strong point of the project was Opera Workshop in Teatro Garzoni of Tricesimo where six italian singers (Francesca Salvatorelli, Francesca Tassinari, Chiara Brunello, Riccardo Gatto, Andrea Zaupa e Alessio D'Aniello) and four american (Meagan Mahlberg, Nicole Asel, Jeffrey Seppala e Wei Wu) have been trained by internationally known artists like Bonaldo Giaiotti and Alessandro Corbelli to perform opera La cambiale di matrimonio conducted by Massimo Alessio Taddia and staged by Leigh Holman with scenes by Davide Amadei and costumes byi Emmanuela Cossar.
Piccolo Festival has been supported, as in previous editions, by Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia (Assessorato alla cultura, sport, relazioni internazionali e comunitarie); by Provinces of Udine, Pordenone and Trieste; by Municipalities of Attimis, Faedis, Maniago, Martignacco, Pradamano, Reana del Rojale, Remanzacco, Tarcento, Tricesimo, Trivignano Udinese; by Città di Udine.
The Federazione BCC del Friuli Venezia Giulia for the second year was “main sponsor” of Festival together with six affiliates (Credifriuli, BCC Friuli Centrale, BCC San Giorgio e Meduno e Banca Manzano, and for the first year BCC di Basiliano and Banca di Udine). Supporters from first edition are also MEP Group and F.A.R. Spa of Reana del Rojale and Siel Impianti of Fagagna, Studio Giorgiutti of Udine joined them for the first time.
Remarkable was also the collaboration with touristic partner Consorzio dolce NordEst of Nimis and Friulalberghi of Udine. Local newspaper Messaggero Veneto and website Udine20.it were media partners.
